Ski Equipment Deals

Chances are good, if you have ever tried to find ski equipment that is both quality and affordable, you probably understand why I suggest this process is a bit of art. It is rather easy in comparison to find affordable or cheap ski equipment that will save you money but may or may not make it through an entire ski season. Just as it is easy to find equipment for skiing that costs a fortune and will not leave you hanging. However, finding a common ground among these two scenario’s is a bit of an art, and one that requires a fair amount of preparation and patients.

Having been a skier for over 28 years now, I have developed a method for finding high quality ski gear while not breaking the bank. As mentioned above, the plan requires a bit of work to fully execute, but if you take the time, you will be well rewarded. My method can be broken down into three basic steps. These steps can be taken much further then I outline here, but they should give you a good indication of how to get it done. However, for those that like to get right to the chase, I have taken the time to put together some of the best deals going on right now from across the web, and you can find them below.

Step 1
The first step to finding the right skiing equipment for you is having a pretty good idea of what you need. Some of you out there are reading this and saying, “yeah, thanks! I already know I need new ski boots, get on with how to find a good deal already!”. Though I sympathize with your enthusiasm, it is critical for you to go deeper then just realizing you need new boots. I’m talking about knowing the right size, the right style, and for ski boots especially, it is important to know how each brand varies in size and fit. This is true with most ski gear, you need to really dive into the details and discover what it is you really need, exactly. If you are someone who is very familiar with ski equipment, chances are this will not take you too long. If you are not sure about what you need, or unsure what sizes will fit you best, don’t worry, you might just want to head over to your local ski shop and try on some different options (but don’t buy anything there, just yet). This is also a great time to ask the qualified staff any questions you might have about various equipment. If you go to your local shop, also be sure and take note of the prices they have on the gear you try out. Ask them if they plan to have any upcoming sales, or if there might be any ski swaps in the near future (ski swaps are great places to find quality new and used ski gear for cheap). Finally, before you leave ask them is they have any special price match policies (this will come in handy step 3).

Step 2
Now that you have a rough idea of what you need, the next step is to find a handful of retailers that sell what you are looking for. If you happened to visit your local ski shop in step 1 they you have most likely already found one. However, to find the best deals, I highly suggest finding a few more. The best, and easiest place by far to find more ski shops is on the web. The web is a great shopping source as you can see various ski gear listings from tons of retailers. A word of caution though, not all retailers are created equal, and it is your job to figure out which ones are the best (tip: by starting your search here at the Snow Ski Sale you can take the guess work out of finding great retailers as we only partner with he best). Let me give you a couple tips though for figuring out what it takes to be a “great” retailer. First, find a company that has been in business for at least 10 years, and is backed by lots of positive consumer reviews. You can easily find out when a company started by checking out there “About Us” page, and a simple search on Google for the company+reviews should help you find some insight. Personally, I have found that Backcountry.com is the place to shop for just about any ski equipment you might need, they seriously have one of the best selections and quite possibly the best customer service I’ve seen anywhere. But I encourage you to shop around for yourself. Now as you shop, be sure and look for the best prices, and pay close attention for any special incentives like coupon offers, or free shipping promotions (the web is packed full of them). Also, don’t forget to check out their social media channels as more and more retailers are pushing out great deals to their loyal followers.

Step 3
Now that you know what ski equipment you are looking for, and you know a few places that carry it, now it’s time to put it all together and make that final purchase. Chances are pretty good that if you looked online particularly at Backcountry or Department of Goods – where retail is dead, that you have found what you want, at a really, really great price.

So there you have it, follow these three steps and you are sure to find some great ski equipment that will not break the bank. There are plenty of options out there, and the landscape is constantly changing, so just be patient and you will find what you need!
